TATTOO AFTERCARE GUIDE
Looking after your new tattoo properly is one of the most important parts of achieving a great healed result. Follow the aftercare instructions provided by your artist, and if you ever have any questions, don't hesitate to contact us.
TRADITIONAL HEALING METHOD
Which Healing Method Should I Follow?
At Paragon Tattoo we use two different aftercare methods depending on the tattoo, its placement
and your artist's preference.
Your artist will let you know which healing method you should follow before you leave the studio.
Please follow only the instructions given to you by your artist.
-
Traditional Healing Method
-
Fixomull Healing Method

STEP 01
Leave the Dressing On
Leave the initial dressing on for 2–4 hours, unless your artist has instructed otherwise.
This allows the tattoo time to settle while protecting it from bacteria immediately after your appointment.
Once the dressing has been removed, do not reapply another dressing unless instructed by your artist.
01
STEP 02
Wash Your Tattoo
02
Before touching your tattoo, wash your hands thoroughly.
Gently wash your tattoo using:
-
Lukewarm water
-
A mild, fragrance-free soap
-
Carefully remove any excess blood, plasma or ink from the surface.
-
Do not scrub the tattoo.
-
Pat dry using clean paper towel or allow the tattoo to air dry.
-
Never rub the tattoo with a towel.

STEP 03
Apply Aftercare Balm
-
Once the tattoo is completely dry, apply a very thin layer of Dr Pickles Tattoo Balm.
-
Dr Pickles is our recommended aftercare product and is available for purchase at the studio.
-
Only apply enough balm to lightly moisturise the tattoo.
-
Applying too much product can slow healing by trapping excess moisture against the skin.
03
STEP 04
Continue Daily Care
04
For approximately the next 2–3 weeks, repeat the following:
-
Wash your tattoo 2–3 times each day.
-
Pat dry with clean paper towel.
-
Allow it to air dry for a few minutes.
-
Apply a very thin layer of Dr Pickles Tattoo Balm whenever the tattoo begins to feel dry.

THE PROCESS
When Should I Contact Us?
Days 1–3
Your tattoo may feel warm, tender and appear very bright. Some light bleeding, plasma and excess ink are completely normal.
Days 4–10
Your tattoo will usually begin peeling and flaking. This is a normal part of healing. Do not pick or scratch the peeling skin.
Weeks 2–4
Most of the peeling has finished and the tattoo will begin settling into the skin. Continue moisturising as required.
Fully Healed
Although the surface of the tattoo may appear healed after several weeks, the deeper layers of skin continue healing for a little longer. Continue protecting your tattoo from excessive sun exposure to keep it looking its best.
